Women in Business – Leading the Way
NFS is proud to be a woman-owned business, and we’re especially proud that Melissa Sheffy, NFS President, was recognized by the Hartford Business Journal’s 2021 Women in Business Honorees!
As our leader, Melissa inspires everyone in our company to reach greater heights of performance and success. Her story is as inspirational as her leadership. HBJ’s Women in Business awards recognize those who have made a difference in their industries and communities. Women are nominated by readers and honorees are chosen by a panel of 25 independent judges.
Melissa is a powerhouse who built her career from the ground up in the male-dominated commercial construction industry. Her first job in Connecticut was working as a secretary for a drywall contractor in the 1980s. After learning all aspects of the business, she took the entrepreneurial leap to launch Network Interiors in 1991. Since then, she has led Network as a certified woman-owned merit shop with vision, passion, and grit through good times and bad.
Over three decades, she successfully expanded the Network family by reinvesting to create two spin-off companies, NDC Commercial Construction and Network Framing Solutions, that have opened new doors of opportunity for continued growth.
Unrelenting, steadfast, and committed, Melissa is a constant in a world filled with uncertainty. Even on the most demanding days of the past year, she could be counted on to manage her team and deliver for Network customers with grace and a positive attitude. Congratulations, Melissa!
“I am honored to be recognized among so many other dynamic women and proud to represent the construction industry.” – Melissa Sheffy
